E-3 Visa Requirements

You’re eligible for the E-3 Visa if you meet the below general requirements:

  • Must be an Australian Citizen

  • Must have a degree*

  • Must have a job offer in the United States that requires a degree

*Australians may earn the equivalent of a 4 year U.S. Bachelor’s Degree by virtue of formal education and/or progressive professional experience.

The Basics

  • Visa fee is $315 USD

  • Processing time is about 4-6 weeks

  • Available in 2 year increments

  • Theoretically renewable indefinitely

  • Employee must earn the greater of the actual or prevailing wage

  • Position must require a U.S. bachelor's degree or equivalent

E-3 Visa Spouse & Children

  • The Spouse and children of an E-3 Visa holder can apply for the E-3 Dependent Visa (E3-D)

  • The Spouse of an E-3 Visa holder will automatically receive working rights upon entry into the US

The E-3 Visa Process

  1. Employer files Labor Condition Application with U.S. Department of Labor

  2. Candidate submits DS-160, pays $315, and attends appointment at a U.S. Consulate outside of the US

  3. Candidate receives E3 visa and starts new job

  • 10,500 visas are available per year to Australians only
