Growing up in a small town in Tasmania Harvey was always curious and eager to explore new challenges. This drive led him to move to Santa Clara on a track and field scholarship.
During his time at SCU, he fell in love with the US. This passion paved the way for him to accept his dream job in LA upon graduation. Harvey’s job search wasn’t without its challenges.
The process was difficult and came with many setbacks. He maintained motivation through accountability and a clear focus on his end goal.
Harvey’s job-searching advice for fellow Aussies
1. Form a support group
Camaraderie was crucial for Harvey. He formed a support group with his college friends. They shared job searching tips, connections and kept each other accountable.
2. Understand that rejection is a part of the process
Harvey used each setback to re-evaluate his job search strategy. This resilience kept him going and led to his success.
3. Connections are king
Harvey discovered that most job opportunities come from personal connections. Reaching out to current and new connections can lead to valuable referrals. Building and leveraging your network is critical.
